We understand that to provide support that is personalised and individual we must work in partnership with, listen to and involve our family members.
We also know that establishing good communication is important and that a positive relationship with the team supporting your family member is the key to understanding how best we can support each person.
In addition to establishing open relationships, each community holds regular family group meetings and both the community and charity share newsletters, updates and surveys.
Keeping in touch
We keep in touch with families each month by sending out a monthly e-briefing that shares important sector related issues and information on how to make your views heard.
We also know that resolving issues is more positive when those involved better understand each person’s perspective. So Camphill Village Trust is presently co-producing a series of training and awareness films ‘Building Family Partnerships’ with family members and staff teams. This is through a collaboration with a family-run organisation called Learn with Us. They develop resources that encourage support workers and care providers to recognise the role of families.
