About the role

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

As a Team Leader you will be responsible for a team of support staff as well as supporting people with differing needs with all aspects of their lives. Your day may be quite varied.

You will help people we support with the practical aspects of their lives, such as helping them to shop, prepare meals, wash themselves, clean their home, understand their money and take their medication.

You will enable the individuals you support to have an active social life, helping them to make friends and maintain friendships and to access and enjoy leisure activities.

You will be helping each person to live their life in a way that makes sense to them, to exercise independent choice and control, to learn new skills and to develop their independence.

As well as general administration tasks associated with the Team Leader role. You will also support and supervise a team of support staff to ensure that they follow the correct procedures, complete care certificates and fulfil their duties. You will also manage rotas, liaise with families and attend meetings with external stakeholders, such as social workers, local authority. As a Team Leader you will be responsible for reporting on and KPIs, and monitoring quality and  audits.

Our Gloucestershire communities are based in beautiful semi-rural locations near Newnham, Gloucestershire where around 99 people are being supported.

What we provide

We provide a full induction and free training.  We will support you to obtain the Care Certificate when you first join us and to obtain further professional qualifications later if you want to do so.

Our hourly rate of pay is £10.56 and we currently pay for a sleep in.  Additional hours are often available. Contractual salary is £20,592 but typical annual earnings are much higher.

What we need from you

Ideally you will have an NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care, or willing to work towards this during employment with us. At least three years previous experience in a care environment.  What is important to us is that you share our values, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.  You will be good at both listening to and talking with people.  You will have a positive and patient approach to supporting people with daily activities and enjoy helping people learn and explore new things.  You have a flexible approach and like work both as part a team as well as on your own.

You will be working on a rota which is normally fixed 2 weeks in advance.  This will involve shifts that normally include working both daytime and evenings and some weekends and bank holidays and could involve sleeping over on some nights.

You will need a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be driving the charity’s vehicles.
