At Taurus Crafts, the people we support enjoy volunteering in the wider local community this enables them to develop responsibility and social skills. Community member Brian volunteers regularly at The Dean Forest Railway which is a 4 1⁄4-mile long heritage railway that runs between Lydney junction and Parkend in the Forest of Dean.
The Dean Forest Railway host special event days and feature both steam trains, heritage diesel locomotives, and other locomotives. The Dean Forest Railway has many roles, from customer facing roles like Guard, Signalman, Ticket Inspector, to behind the scenes roles like permanent way, rolling stock restoration and lineside clearance.
“I perform a number of roles on the railway which include Traveling Ticket Inspector, Crossing Keeper and in my most recent role I have become Station Master for Lydney Town. There is a great atmosphere and it is a very friendly railway” Brian
