Community members put Sara in the spotlight

Our new Chief Executive, Sara Thakkar, joined us at the beginning of June. To introduce Sara to our regular readers, community members from around the country came together on Zoom to interview Sara for this newsletter.

‘What is your job?’ was the big question posed by Philip.

‘It’s to make sure you have the best life,’ was Sara’s answer. ‘A lovely home, surrounded by great people, and able to take part in the activities that you love. If you’ve got all that, then I’m doing my job properly.’

Another challenging question came from Owen.

‘What benefits will you bring to our communities?’

‘The pandemic has stopped us from doing the things we love,’ says Sara. ‘The benefits I want to bring are in making sure that places like Kingfisher Café can reopen so that our community members can carry on learning new skills and meeting new people.’

Sara joins the Trust at an exciting but challenging time.

‘My main first impression is just how well we’ve coped with the pandemic,’ says Sara. ‘Community members and staff have shown real resilience. And we owe a great deal of that to our fantastic supporters. I’m humbled and grateful for the amazing support we’ve always received.’

Welcome Sara – we wish you all the best in your new role!
