How do we create a life of opportunity?
At Camphill Village Trust, we support adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health support needs. We believe everyone has the right to a life of opportunity – to feel valued, connected, and able to make choices about their own future.
The people we support have told us what matters most through our co-produced I-statements, which underpin everything we do.
These guide us in creating a life of opportunity through:

Quality support and housing options
We provide safe, welcoming homes with the right level of support for each individual. From supported living in shared houses to more independent options with backup support, we offer flexibility so people can live where and how they choose.

Supported employment
Having the chance to work is about more than earning money – it builds confidence, skills, and self-esteem. We create supported employment opportunities across our communities, from cafés and shops to 'Life of Opportunity Reviewer' opportunities.

Education
At Taurus Crafts in Gloucestershire, Severnside Skills offers AQA qualifications in areas like catering, retail, and creative industries. These provide skills, experience, and a pathway to employment. We also work with external partners so people can gain recognised certificates and complete accredited courses.

Volunteering
We support people to volunteer both within and outside the Trust. Inside our communities, people can choose roles in cafés, shops, or groups such as Involve Me, which champions inclusion and community. Beyond the Trust, opportunities include volunteering in schools, charity shops, or joining projects like the Kindness Crew in St Albans, supporting the wider community.

Our programmes
Spending time in nature has a powerful impact on wellbeing. Our Nature-based Therapies and Skills Programmes – from gardening and farming to countryside management and animal care – combine practical skills with therapeutic benefits, helping people to connect with the natural world.

Our services
We offer a wide range of care and support services designed to help people live active, healthy, independent lives. Find out more about what we offer and how you can get involved.
What a Life of Opportunity means to the People We Support
A life of opportunity isn’t just our vision – it’s defined by the people we support. Together, we co-produced our ten I-statements, which set out what really matters in day-to-day life.
These I-statements reflect the voices and priorities of the people at the heart of our communities. They guide every aspect of our work – from housing and support, to opportunities in employment, education, volunteering, and nature-based therapies.
