Everyone deserves the chance to live a life full of opportunity, purpose, and connection.
At Camphill Village Trust, we’re a national charity and adult social care provider supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health problems to lead meaningful, independent lives — connected to their communities and to the world around them.
Why we exist as a Charity and Adult Social Care Provider

1.3 million
There are 1.3 million people with a learning disability in the UK, 950,000 of whom are adults (ONS).

20 years younger
People with learning disabilities die on average 20 years younger than the general population (NHS England Learning Disabilities Mortality Review).

79%
79% of autistic adults feel socially isolated (National Autistic Society).

2.5 times
Adults with learning disabilities are 2.5 times more likely to live in poverty than the general population (Joseph Rowntree Foundation).
We know that nature can transform lives.
The evidence is clear: spending time outdoors supports mental and physical wellbeing, boosts confidence, reduces anxiety, and builds vital life skills. But access to nature, and all its benefits, isn’t fair or equal for everyone.
People with additional needs face barriers to the very spaces and experiences that could help them thrive.Â
That's why we're here; to change that and to reimagine what social care can look like. To create opportunities for people to thrive—outdoors, in community, and on their own terms.
Why nature belongs in adult social care

Up to 46%
Regular access to nature for adults with learning disabilities can improve communication skills by up to 46% and reduce challenging behaviours by approximately 30% (University of Essex).

18%
Approximately 18% of people with learning disabilities in the UK regularly access green spaces, compared to approximately 48% of the general population (Sensory Trust).

52%
Structured nature activities can reduce anxiety by up to 52% for people with autism (University of Birmingham).
Through our Nature-based Therapies and Skills Programmes, we’re changing the story.
From gardening and farming to arts, crafts, and conservation, our supported nature-based activities help people grow in confidence, discover their talents, and live more connected, fulfilling lives.
We believe in a better, more inclusive future. And we’re building it—together.
