“Before I came here, I stayed in. I like being outside. Now I am happy.” – Michael
Spring is a season of growth, new life and fresh starts. With your support, more people like Michael can step outdoors, build confidence and discover just how extraordinary everyday life can be.
From staying in to stepping into the world
Before coming to Camphill Village Trust, Michael spent most of his days indoors. “Before I came here, I stayed in.” There was little structure, little opportunity and little sense of purpose.
Today, everything has changed. “I can’t watch TV anymore — I’ve got too much to do.”
Now his days are filled with farm work, gardening, animal care and crafts. He is active, needed, trusted and valued. That transformation happened because of nature-based support — and because of people like you.
Rooted in nature. Growing in confidence.
At Larchfield, life moves with the seasons. Spring lambs are cared for, seeds are planted and gardens begin to bloom. Michael feeds animals, carries chickens to the kitchen garden, digs pathways and harvests apples from the orchard. In winter, he saws wood for kindling sold in the community shop.
“I’m proud of sawing wood for kindling for the shop.” – Michael
These may sound like ordinary tasks. But for Michael, they are extraordinary achievements. Each responsibility builds skills. Each day outdoors strengthens his health. Each success builds confidence. “I feel healthy.”
Nature is not an extra here. It is essential.
Give today to help more people grow in confidence this spring.
Calm. Connection. Belonging.
Michael particularly loves working with animals. “I like seeing the cows. And the sheep.” Animals don’t judge or demand the right words. They offer calm and connection without pressure.
Through caring for them, Michael has found responsibility, pride and belonging. He now lives in a shared home in the community, cooks with fresh produce he has helped grow, sings karaoke, makes friends and even helps give tours to visitors. He is no longer on the sidelines. He belongs.
