Co-production and the Life of Opportunity I Statements are at the heart of Camphill Village Trust.
But why were the I Statements created? What was the thought behind them?
Our community members have produced three short videos telling the story of the ten I Statements on their own words.

How were the I Statements created

Adam, Simon, Shaun and Colin got together in June 2023 to  talk about the time during lockdown when the I Statements where created. We go back in time to remember the period when virtual meetings became the new "normal".

How the I Statements were put together
The people we support were able to share thoughts and discuss on weekly virtual meetings. From this conversations and discussion ten I Statements were created.

What's next in regards to our I Statements?
We have achieved a lot on the last 3 years but we have exciting plans for 2023.

'This is the beginning of co-production - the awareness to ask the questions and being open to creating an environment where we encourage people to be confident, comfortable, and brave enough to tell their stories, share their ideas and most importantly know they plan to achieve them

– Phil Gibson, Co-production Lead at Camphill Village Trust

"All the people that are important to me work together to help me achieve my goals and live the life I choose."

In November we celebrate an incredibly important I statement: "All the people that are important to me work together to help me achieve my goals and live the life I choose."

Let's break down what this statement means to the people we support and how we work together:

Families are involved as I have agreed –

We believe in the significance of family involvement and respect the choices of the people we support regarding who is part of their support network.

People work in partnership to achieve the best outcome possible-

We're all in this together! Co-production is at the heart of creating the best life for the people we support.

I am placed at the centre of any support planning –

It's their life, their choices. We ensure that their dreams and goals are at the forefront of all support planning. We provide the information so the people we support make informed decisions.

Plans can change, and I have regular reviews –

Life is dynamic, and we understand that. We're here to adapt and evolve their support plans as they grow.

Communication plans acknowledge the role of families and how to maintain positive relationships –

Building and maintaining positive relationships is key, and we value the role of families in the journey of the people we support.

We invite you to watch a video where Croft Community member Owen,  share his thoughts on why this month's I Statement is one of his favourites. Owen's words echo the essence of Co-production.
