Talk like a Pirate day!
Pirates aren’t just found in the Caribbean it seems. The landlubbers of Botton Village and Larchfield Community have recently been flying the Jolly Roger in honour of International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Community members of Botton Village met in the Joan of Arc Hall and took part in fun swashbuckling activities such as making your own eye patch and flag, pirate bingo and a sea shanty sing along. A prize for the best dressed pirate was drawn.
Meanwhile at nearby Larchfield Community, staff and community members alike dressed up in their finest waistcoats and eye patches for a day of pirate quizzes and treasure hunts.
‘My costume was inspired by Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean,’ says Pirate Chloe from Larchfield Community. ‘We played pirate bingo, did a pirate quiz and sang along to some pirate music. I won lots of chocolate coins!’
