Using technology to stay connected while apart

Lockdown has presented all of us with many challenges. People with a learning disability often experience high levels of loneliness and social isolation and we understood how this may impact on some of the people we support.

Here at Camphill Village Trust, we knew we had to take action to keep our community members engaged and connected with each other. To keep friendships thriving and create a sense of togetherness.

Like many in these times, we found the solution could be held in technology. A series of daily Zoom sessions soon started to take place, each being led by a person with a different passion or interest, something they could share that others could gain inspiration from.

The collective contributions started to grow in many ways, through performance, art, the written word and more.

Our short film shows the many creative ways we’ve been able to stay connected while apart. We really don’t know where this is going to take us, but the energy and creativity shows no sign of slowing down.
