About the role

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

Working as part of the community you will be required to lead a group of people we support (who participate on a voluntary basis), enabling opportunities for people to be involved in the preparation of a healthy and varied meal for the community and staff members.

As a community lunch cook, you will support people with differing needs with preparing meals for a common lunch. This will include planning a menu, purchasing ingredients, preparing, cooking and serving the meals.

Our Grange Village and Oaklands Park Communities are based in a beautiful semi-rural location in Newnham, Gloucestershire] where approx. 100 people are being supported across the 2 communities.

What we provide

We provide a full induction and free training.

Our hourly rate of pay is £8.50 per hour.

We offer great benefits, which include 33 days holiday, increasing to 35 days after 2 years service (pro-rata for part-time) an opportunity to ‘cash in’ 1 week’s leave a year, and an employee assistance scheme that is also available to your immediate family. Free on-site parking is available.

What we need from you

This role would suit someone with cooking experience or a support worker who enjoys cooking.  What is important to us is that you share our values, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.  You will be good at both listening to and talking with people.  You will have a positive and patient approach to supporting people with daily activities and enjoy helping people learn and explore new things.  You have a flexible approach and like work both as part a team as well as on your own.
