Farm Assistant

Location: Botton Village

Salary: £16,575 pro rata

Botton community is home to adults with a range of disabilities and is situated only 3 miles from Danby/Castleton and 10 miles from Guisborough. We provide a fully comprehensive support package to the people we support both residentially and day placements, which include a choice of activities in our various workshops where skills are developed, and friendships forged.

We are looking for a Farm Assistant to join our thriving community, working full time (37.5hrs) hours Monday to Sunday on a fixed term basis (until end of March 2020). We have three working farms and are currently recruiting for an experienced Farmer.? This role will involve supporting resident to carry out meaningful farm work.

Farm activities involve a wide range of farm work and may include; milking cows, feeding animals: sheep, chickens, pigs, cattle and any other such as driving the tractor with wide range of implements to carry out a diverse range of tasks on the land. The role involves fencing and general maintenance around the farm, machinery maintenance, sowing, weeding and harvesting crops. Although the role can be demanding at times, it is also very rewarding.

Previous experience in the health and social care sector would be advantageous but not necessary. We are looking for people who ideally have a working experience of or a high level of knowledge on; Farm working, livestock, milking, herding, Biodynamic/organic practices, Tractor Driving, hay making, animal husbandry and machine maintenance.

There is a rich cultural life within the village and the ideal person will be supportive of underlying Camphill ethos/principles of biodynamics.?  The ideal person will be able to work flexibly including early mornings, evenings and alternate weekends and be an excellent team player.

Candidates will ideally have an Agricultural / Livestock qualification, or a QCF Level 2 qualification in Social Care or equivalent or be willing to work towards these qualifications during their employment with us.
