As a support worker, you will support people with differing needs with all aspects of their lives. Your day may be quite varied. You will help people with the practical aspects of their lives, such as helping them to shop, prepare meals, wash, clean their home, understand their money and take their medication.

You will enable the individuals you support to have an active social life, helping them to make friends and maintain friendships and to access and enjoy leisure activities.

You will be helping each person to live their life in a way that makes sense to them, to exercise independent choice and control, to learn new skills and to develop their independence.

Our Botton community is based in a beautiful rural location only 3 miles from Danby/Castleton and 10 miles from Guisborough where around 100 people are being supported.

What we provide

We provide a full induction and free training.  We will support you to obtain the Care Certificate when you first join us and to obtain further professional qualifications later if you want to do so.

Our hourly rate of pay is £8.50 and we currently pay £67.50 a night for a leep in.  Additional hours are often available. Contractual salary is £16,575, but typical annual earnings with [1] sleep in a week, and [20] hours of overtime each month is £19,425.

What we need from you

No qualifications or previous experience are needed.  You may have previous experience in care, just be starting work, or looking to do something different.  What is important to us is that you share our values, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.  You will be good at both listening to and talking with people.  You will have a positive and patient approach to supporting people with daily activities and enjoy helping people learn and explore new things.  You have a flexible approach and like work both as part a team as well as on your own.

You will be working on a rota which is normally fixed 4 weeks in advance.  This will involve shifts that normally include working both daytime and evenings and some weekends and bank holidays and sleeping over on some nights.

Part-time working and zero-hours / relief working may be available – please enquire.

You will need a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be driving the charity’s vehicles.
