Due to developments within the Croft Community, we are expanding our team to provide further opportunities for people to live, work and learn within our unique Community setting.

About the role

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

As a support worker, you will support people with differing needs, with all aspects of their lives. This role is to ensure the care and support needs and safety of the people we support is maintained throughout the night.

You will enable the individuals you support to be active and lead full and fulfilling lives by helping them to make friends and maintain friendships and to access and enjoy social, leisure, spiritual and cultural activities of their choice. As well as supporting with the tasks of everyday living.

Positive support includes the compiling, maintaining and review of good quality care and support records; assistance with medication, finances and personal care needs, as well as supporting people with their emotional wellbeing.

Croft Community is a vibrant community located on the edge of the North Yorkshire market town of Malton. We support amazing people to realise their potential. Currently home to 37 community members, an inspiring group of adults with a broad age-range.

People are supported across 11 different properties, set in the beautiful Croft Community site and around the town of Malton. Ranging from small independent flats to large shared supported living houses.

The Croft operates a range of supported work opportunities and community projects. These include a Market Garden, a Café, textile, enterprise and community-focused workshops.

We strive to develop skills and talents to make a valuable contribution to Croft and also local communities. We are proud of our links with the local area and of building new opportunities through partnership and connectivity.

What we provide

We provide a full induction and free training.  We will support you to obtain the Care Certificate when you first join us and to obtain further professional qualifications later, if you want to do so.

We offer great benefits, which include 33 days holiday (increased to 35 upon completion of two years’ service) death in service insurance, an opportunity to ‘cash in’ 1 week’s leave a year, and an employee assistance scheme that is also available to your immediate family. What we need from you

No qualifications or previous experience are needed.  You may have previous experience in care, just be starting work, or looking to do something different.  What is important to us is that you share our values, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.  You will be good at both listening to and talking with people.  You will have a positive and patient approach to supporting people with daily activities and enjoy helping people learn and explore new things.  You have a flexible approach and like work both as part a team as well as on your own.

You will be working on a rota which is fixed in advance, though flexibility is a real asset.  This will involve shifts that normally include working both daytime and evenings and some weekends and bank holidays and sleeping over on some nights.

Part-time working and zero-hours / relief working may be available – please enquire.  We are also currently recruiting Support Workers for waking nights.
