Support Worker (Weekends)

Location: Aldenham, Watford

Salary: £9.36 per hour

Application Deadline: 15/04/2019

Would you like to help support people with learning disabilities to live meaningful lives and learn new skills?   We are looking for professional, positive and passionate people to help provide support during weekends in our Delrow Community.

Delrow Community is part of The Camphill Village Trust, a national charity which supports people with learning disabilities.  Delrow Community is home for over 50 people with support needs. We have people from outside the Community joining us during the day to participate in our workshops. Set in a beautiful semi-rural setting on the outskirts of Watford, we have a farm garden, a bakery and many different craft workshops.

As a support worker you would support a number of people, each with quite different needs and personalities, with all aspects of their lives. Your day may be quite varied.  You may be helping people with the practical aspects of their lives, helping them to shop, prepare meals, clean their home, understand their money, take their medication.  You may also be helping with their social life, helping them to make friends and maintain friendships and to access and enjoy leisure activities. You would be helping each person to live their life in a way that makes sense to them, to exercise independent, choice and control, and to learn new skills and develop their independence skills.

We are currently looking for support workers to cover weekends on a part time basis.

You do not need any qualifications or prior experience of working in social care or with adults with learning disabilities (although these are helpful) but you do need the right values and attitudes.  You will need to be person-centred in your approach, reliable and flexible, enthusiastic and committed about contributing to the wellbeing of others, and have good communication skills. Full comprehensive training will be provided.

An Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required. If you would like to talk with us about the role or to find out more please contact 01923 851721.
