As an experienced Team Leader, you will guide your team to support people with differing needs with all aspects of their lives. Your day may be quite varied. You will in addition to the managerial tasks associated with the team leader role you will also help people we support with the practical aspects of their working lives, such as helping them to undertake tasks within the workplace.

You will support your team to provide opportunities for our people to have an active work life, helping them to make friends and maintain friendships and to access and enjoy leisure activities.

You will lead by example in helping each person to live their life in a way that makes sense to them, to exercise independent choice and control, to learn new skills and to develop their independence.

Our Botton community is based in a beautiful semi-rural location 15 miles from Guisborough, where around 80 people are being supported.

Our craft workshop is looking for an inspirational team leader who has experience in all aspects of traditional handicrafts such as weaving, knitting, sewing etc and who has the drive and imagination to develop different skills and opportunities for the people we support.

As a team leader, you will support our team of people with learning disabilities, as well as line manage the workshop assistant. Botton Weavery was established 50 years ago and provides unique opportunities for people with complex needs to develop skills and create beautiful bespoke products for sale.

What we provide

We provide a full induction and free training.  We will support you to obtain professional qualifications if you want to do so as well as the care certificate.

Our hourly rate of pay is £9.50-10.50 per hour.  Contractual salary is £18,525 – £20,475.

What we need from you

At least three years previous experience of working within a care or support setting, ideally with adults with learning disabilities, with at least one year at a more senior level. A Level 3 in Health and Social care or equivalent or a willingness to work towards this.

What is important to us is that you share our values, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.  You will be good at both listening to and talking with people.  You will have a positive and patient approach to supporting people with daily activities and enjoy helping people learn and explore new things.  You have a flexible approach and like work both as part a team as well as on your own.

You will have good technical weaving knowledge and design ideas. Your role will involve helping your team design, set up and complete various projects. The craft area includes 16 floor and table tapestry looms, we also offer a variety of traditional handwork skills such as sewing by hand and machine, crochet, knitting, quilting and doll making.

You will need a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be driving the charity’s vehicles.
